Viaje a El Hierro - Trip to El Hierro

(Sin no entiendes inglés en breve podrás ver el texto español en "Comments")

This is a post about a trip our family made to the isle of El Hierro. I'm posting late, but i've been also moving out of my old flat, getting things sorted and so on and time available for sitting on the computer desk has been little. So,... this trip was amazing. We stayed in a beautiful rural house in El Mocanal with all the commodities you could think of, and we travelled around to see some of the countless beautiful spots this charming piece of land has to offer.

The most remarkable thing about the most westerly and southerly point of Europe is... quietness. Oh yes! There's no pollution, no traffic hassle and no people rushing in the streets. The place is really quiet, so much that it takes a while to get used to it if you come from a city (even a small one as Santa Cruz). It's also quite small, only 107 sq. miles. But the richness of it's cultural and natural heritages is tremendous. If you ever go there, you should never miss the mindblowing landscape of El Golfo cliffs, the remarkable and endangered, 2-feet-long, Giant Lizzard of el Hierro (bred in captivity) and the amazing diving spots and lovely fish restaurants of La Restinga. But that's only the beginning; there are dozens of hidden gems in the island (viewpoints, footpaths, old houses, churches, and so on) that are definetely worth visiting.

We had excellent weather in our 3-day visit and we could enjoyed a fenomenal barbacue, went hiking and managed to see the most beautiful sunset from el Mirador de la Peña, a breathtaking viewpoint located at 3000 ft above the huge valle of El Golfo. Mum and Dad loved the place as did my sisters' friend David, from Scotland.

Here you have some pictures of the trip:
