Vendedores - Street vendors

El otro día vi desde la ventana del trabajo, en la Rambla de Pulido en Santa Cruz, una señora vendiendo plantas como se ve en la foto. Me recordó las historias que he oido de las lecheras de Anaga y Las Mercedes que bajaban caminando con sus cántaros en la cabeza hasta La La Laguna para venderla allí. Me encanta ver que aún queda gente vendiendo así, poniendo una nota de color a las calles de Santa Cruz. Enseguida bajé, le compré un photo por 5€ y le pedí que me dejara sacarle una foto.

One of the very few traditional street vendors you can still find in the streets of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. These people are so nice and easy to talk to. Only 20 years ago there were many of them all around the islands. Now you can only find them in rural areas or small towns, and very rarely, as in this case, in the capital. One of the all time classics that still survive in Santa Cruz is the "knife sharpener" mounted on his motorcycle and blowing his endearing harmonica. If i get a glimpse of the man, i'll take a picture and post it here.

Edo, nice blog - nice to see everyday pictures of the Canaries - I miss the climate at this time of year. I just started using my kotatsu so that means winter is coming in Japan. all the best. Stu
